Options menu:
- Color:
- Set background colors for a window specified in the sub-menu.
- Font:
- Set font for a window specified in the sub-menu.
- Sort audience list:
- When enabled, user list will be sorted. This is the default
setting.
- Ticker mode:
- Set ticker to be scrollable, static or hided.
- Firewall:
- For people behind a socks firewall, you can set the socks server
so that your IRC connection and DCC connection can go through the
socks server. If you connect an IRC server that is inside your firewall
you can by-pass the firewall by prefix 'NS!' to the server name.
- Server password:
- If the server you connect to has a server connection password,
you can specify the password using this menu item and then connect to
the server.
- Audio:
- If you have a multi-media computer, when this option is turned
on for a room, you will hear sound when people join/leave the room.
- Private message audio prompt:
- If you have a multi-media computer, when a user chats with you
in private and you choose not to use a private chat window, this menu
item enables you to hear the audio prompt. It is useful when you want
to monitor infrequent private messages.
- Activity log:
- When enabled, display activity with time stamps in the window.
- When disabled, room activities, such as join, leave, quit will
not be displayed.
- Enable CTCP:
- When enabled, other people can get CTCP responses from you.
- When disabled, other people will get a message of "CTCP refused".
- You can always send CTCP commands no matter what state this
option is in.
- Message wrap:
- When enabled, text displayed in the message window will be
wrapped according to the width of the window. You may disable
this option when you need to display computer program-like messages.
- Private chat window:
- When turned on, any incoming private messages will be directed to
a private chat window.
- Time stamp:
- When turned on, any message will be time stamped.
- To front with new message:
- When turned on, any new IRC message will bring the room window to
the front. This option is useful when you want to monitor infrequent public
messages.
- Identd:
- When turned on, the client will start an ident daemon. This allows
you to connect to servers that requires identd check.
- Auto log all:
- When turned on, all the messages will be logged.
DCC menu:
This client is capable of doing all DCC functions through socks firewall
using socks 4.0 protocol. If your IRC connection is through the socks
firewall, DCC connections will go through the firewall machine as well.
To make it more efficient, you should prefix IRC server inside a firewall
with 'NS!' so that all connections by-pass the socks server.
- DCC Chat:
- Selected a user and then use this menu item (or popup menu) to start
a DCC chat session.
- DCC Send:
- Selected a user and then use this menu item (or popup menu) to start
a DCC Send file session.
- DCC Receive:
- Selected a user and then use this menu item (or popup menu) to start
a DCC Receive file session. DCC Receive protocol only works between
different versions of this client.
- DCC Viewer:
- With this viewer, you can preview or view a file before/after you
have DCC Send/Receive session. The viewer can show Images, Text and au
format audio files.
- DCC Auto get:
- When turned on, your client will automatically receive a DCC Send
session initiated by another user. The files will be saved under 'incoming'
directory.
Help menu:
- Help index:
- Display the help information about the usage of this IRC client.
- For Windows and OS/2 users, this menu item will display the help
HTML file in your default browser. For other platforms, this feature is not
working.
- Upgrade IRC client:
- This feature allows you to upgrade your IRC client from a selected
user automatically. To perform an upgrade, select a user that uses a newer
version of this client, then select this menu item. When upgrade completes,
you will be prompted whether to restart the client to use the upgraded code or
wait until next time you start the client.
